Day 01
Breakfast drive to St.
Anthony monastery, St Anthony have the credit for founding monasticism tradition he was born in the year 251 AD this
shy son of a provincial landowner from a small upper Egypt town near Beni Suef
was a reluctant religious leader, Orphaned with his
sister at the age of 18 he was already more interested
in the spiritual life more than the temporal and soon
gave his share of the inheritance to the poor and went
to the Eastern desert living in a cave and hoping for
solitude and spiritual salvation however the word spread
soon about the holy man and would be disciples came
flocking trying to copy his ascetic existence, by
default he became their spiritual leader, soon also the
whole Byzantine empire was alive with monastic fever and
only a century later there were many monasteries
throughout Italy and France, St. Anthony’s have several churches, Chapel, a guesthouse, a bakery, a vegetable garden and a spring that supplies the monastery with 100 cubic meters of water daily allowing the monks to cultivate olives and dates, the highlight
of the tour is visiting the oldest part of the monastery witch is the church of St. Anthony built over the saint’s tomb it contains the largest array of Coptic wall paintings dating to the early 13th century the colors
are clear and bright showing that Coptic art was connected to the art of wider Byzantine and Islamic eastern Mediterranean ones, it is available to visit the cave of St Anthony
about 300 Meters up the Mountain, the cave have a chapel
with an alter, the medieval graffiti on the walls are
fascinating and there is a breath taking view of the
hills and valley below, Continue your tour visiting St. Paul Monastery who was born in Alexandria late in the 3rd
century and fled to the eastern desert to escape Roman persecution the most fascinating part of the large complex is the church of St. Paul Cluttered with altars, candles, ostrich eggs and colorful murals representing saints and

Day 01 Breakfast meet your representative (6:00 AM) to drive to Luxor about 5 hours drive, upon arrival you will
visit
the east bank, the Karnak Temple the largest religious complex in the world it was continuously built by generations for 2000 years, the temple was mainly dedicated to the God Amon Ra who became the most important in Thebes the capital, the most celebrated
feature of Karnak is the great hypostyle hall that covers 600 square meters large enough to hold within both St. Paul’s Cathedral of London or the entire Notre Dame of Paris, a forest of 134 columns supports the ceiling all decorated with religious scenes this hall was built by Sethos the 1st and Ramses the 2nd, the relives
and the pharaoh’s chronicles elsewhere in the temple presents an incomparable historical source, much of our knowledge about Egypt and the neighboring countries come from them, they also recall stories of the Bible (Old Testimony), continue your tour to visit Luxor temple about 10 minutes drive from Karnak Temple, the temple was built and
used over a period of many generations but Amenophis the 3rd started building the temple and parts of it were completed by Ramses the 2nd where 2 of his seated colossal statues flank the doorway of the temple, the temple was connected to Karnak temple by a 4 kilometers avenue of the sphinx which still big part of it
existing,
one of the very interesting parts in Luxor temple is the chapel built by Alexander the great for the God Amon Raa picturing himself as the son of God, what is more interesting is the chapel he built is an exact copy of the chapel built by Amenophis the 3rd about 11 centuries before Alexander built
his own, comparing the 2 chapels you will find a great difference in quality in favor of the old chapel built by Amenophis the 3rd, back to your hotel for over night.
Day 02 breakfast meet your
Egyptologist guide (7:00 AM) to start your tour visiting
the west bank, first stop will be at the Colossi of Memnon, where is the remains of the monumental avenue witch used to be lead to the temple of Amon-Ofis the 3rd. the temple has unfortunately disappeared and what remains are commonly referred to the Colossi of Memnon these
2 gigantic statues 20 meters long and 1 meter thick were cut out of single blocks of sandstone and represent the pharaoh seated on his throne continue your tour to visit the famous valley of the kings where about 64 pharaohs tombs were discovered as in the New Kingdom Pharaohs decided to hide their tombs in a secret place hidden behind the
cliffs on the west bank of Thebes, after a long history suffering of robbery and vandalism in the old and middle kingdom, you will have the chance to enter 3 different tombs (King Tut tomb can be added upon request) as the tomb of king Ramses the 6th witch is famous with it’s magnificent ceiling colored paintings showing 2 celestial
hemispheres with stellar gods in procession behind the solar barges sailing down the celestial Nile, also tomb of Tutmose the 3rd witch considered among the most beautiful in the valley for it’s graphic style, continue your tour to visit the valley of the queens with it’s magnificent paintings with bright colors seem to have been
painted yesterday, you will be visiting 3 different tombs (Nefertari Tomb can be added upon request) as tomb of queen Thiti who may have been the wife of one of the pharaohs of the 10th dynasty contain beautiful paintings in delicate shades of pink, also the tomb of Prince Pra-her-Umenef one of Ramses the 3rd sons who died
rather young the decoration in the tomb show the dead prince being represented by his father to various divinities, drive to Eldeir El Bahari to visit the funerary temple of Queen Hatshepsut built about 1460 BC, an architectural masterpiece designed by the architect Senmut, the conception of the monument was new and revolutionary, the temple
consisted of a series of vast terraces witch by means of ramps led to the sanctuary, (tour will end at 1:30 PM) lunch break then drive back to Hurghada(5:00 PM) for over night at your hotel, arrive Hurghada at 10:00PM.
